I am back...

We are finally on line and connected! Quite honestly, didn’t realize how addicted I was to the Internet. Didn’t miss TV one bit, as I do not watch it all that much but not being online was frustrating me more then I could ever imagine….

We moved 2 days ago. Boxes, boxes, boxes everywhere. I do not know where anything is? In general, my personality finds it very hard to live in chaos. I need order and focus to function comfortably. Maybe because I am a “Virgo”, or maybe because I am just uptight, I have always been happier knowing where everything is.

This will all be over in a few weeks and I will be back to my normal routine. Of course, once the dust settles, then I have to come to the realization that I have moved to the “BURBS”! It’s so awfully quite here. There are no sirens, no cars or human noises. There is no hustle or the bustle of the city; there is no friendly corner shop, no pedestrians and there isn’t our usual Irish pub that we drop by regularly. BUT, there is a different kind of energy, the kind I will need to get use to.

There is the energy of the ocean, trees, squirrels, ducks, birds, grass, wild turkeys and even deer! Yes! you heard it, wild turkey and deer…. The ocean is beautiful. Something about the water that makes us humans calmer in general, don’t you think? That part I will get use to very quickly…

My blogging will be far and in between for the next few weeks. I will try to follow the world news, now that I am online, however, I am not sure how often I will be able to write my thoughts down. Although, I have a feeling I will desire it more often then not.

One thing I can tell you is, our system is truly f#$% up! Our media obsesses more about Michael Jackson’s death then Cynthia McKinney’s imprisonment or the military coupe in Honduras… Talk about empty heads and hearts!

Oh I do love your photo, Nevin, something very painterly about it and speaking as a fellow ocean dweller you will not be able to get enough of it!

Like wisewebwoman I too at first thought the photo was a painting, where was it taken?

Jams, believe me, I will avoid the Stepford "kind" like the plague! Unfortunately, Connecticut is one big Stepford... :) :) And the worst part is, it's the 1970's kind, not the new version which is kind of comical...

WWW, thank you so much. I love the ocean as well. It will be great, especially in the winter months.

Mick, It was taken in the suburbs of Boston years ago.

Nevin, I am glad that the moving is over and you can start to settle into your new environment.

There will be lots of sounds too, just different from the city sounds. If you listen carefully the trees actually talk ... some people refer to this as the rustling of leaves.:)
The birds chirp merrily. The smell is also different. No heavy carbon monoxide.

Welcome to your new home and I hope that is provides your family continued happy times.
:)

Ardent, thank you for your kind words. There is a different kind of beauty out here which is all very new to me.... I will take your advice and listen to the trees sometimes...

I feel like my cat (Zeytin) right now.... :)We both have a lot of adjusting to do.

My kids on the other hand love it our here already. They made tons of friends on our street. I am happy for them.

We are missing you all so very much... Buyukada is not the same without you all.

I believe in listening to the trees and ocean. Its more boring but also more calming than ambulances. If you moved out there, there must be more like you. I am sure you are not alone.

mberkmen, We are all missing Buyukada this summer.... until next year! :(

This move has taken over my life!!!

What a beauiful photo! So soothing...Please give many to your readers stuck to busy cities with no chance of relief from noises and crowds of people at every corner. You're a keen observer, Nevin. You'll find much to see and to say about your new environment. I'm looking forward to your future posts. All the best to you, and family.

It is great you're back.

In Iran some 22+ people were executed, who took part in the protests, but Michael Jackson upstages everything.

Welcome Back!

And I recommend the movie, 'The Stoning of Soraya M.'

Please spread the word...

Hopefully, we'll see more of you on Twitter... where you don't have to write an entire post, but place some tidbits here and there...

Persepolis is a good movie about Iran as well.

Nevin said...

Ren, I loved Persepolis. I watched it maybe more than 3 times so far.... :)

Persepolis is excellent. My favourite of recent years (being a fanatical football - soccer - supporter) is a brilliant, low budget film called 'Offside'. It reveals the absurdity of the Mullah's strictures on what constitutes 'femininity' and is remarkable in that it is shot inside Iran.

Don't be put off by the football theme, this is a quietly subversive and political film. The football is just a vehicle to explore the artificial divisions imposed by the Islamic regime.

Nevin said...

Thank you Sean, I certainly like your choice of movies. As a football/Soccer lover myself, I will certainly put it in my Netflix list.

"As a football lover myself..."

Tell me more? What team? European? Turkish? English? American?

I think you'll love this film. Have you seen this btw:

Galatasaray all the way!!!! :)

Does anyone have anything to say about the case of Germany's Marwa...

Huffington Post does...

Nevin said...

Thank you TT. I have not read this article prior to your link.... I must admit, I have been away quite a bit from my computer. I am unable to follow the latest news on line. But the good news is, my home looks livable and in order....

As for the article, I am not one bit surprised, this news has not been publicized as much as it deserves to be! If it was a Muslim man, killing a Muslim woman, you can bet all the media outlets would be screaming loud and clear….

Seán said...

I heard about the story. Shocking. Also the level of islamphobia in Europe currently, has to have had some impact.

Sorry to follow the above comments with something so trite too.

"Galatasaray"

I was hoping you had said, Besiktas. So I could have reminded you of the 8-0 hammering to Liverpool two years ago. ;)

Ah well. Least it's not Man. Utd!

TT said...

Thank you Nevin & Sean for your input.

By the way, Go Galatasaray!!!

Nevin said...

Sean: you made me laugh out loud! :) :)
